Jabari Smith received his rating on the NBA 2K video game
We are days away from the release of the new NBA 2K game, so the game creators have released some of the rookie notes.
Let’s compare Jabari Smith’s rants with the other recruits whose ratings have been published.
Jabari Smith, Houston Rockets 78
Paolo Banchero, Orlando Magic 78
Chet Holmgren, Oklahoma City Thunder 77
Keegan Murray, Sacramento Kings 76
Jaden Ivey, Detroit Pistons 76
Although Smith may have slipped to the third pick in the draft, he has the same rating as number one overall pick Banchero and is rated one point better than number two pick Holmgren.
Let’s compare Smith’s 78 rookie rating to Auburn’s two former first-round picks, Isaac Okoro and Chuma Okeke.
Isaac Okoro, Cleveland Cavaliers 75
Chuma Okeke, Orlando Magic 72
Obviously, the creators of the 2K game believe that Smith will be a very good professional player based on the rookie rating they gave him.
Smith will play with a chip on his shoulder this season as he was expected to be the first pick and then slipped to number three. An angry Smith is not something opposing teams will like very much.
Smith and the Houston Rockets will open their season at home against the San Antonio Spurs on October 2.
It will be fun for Auburn fans to watch Smith become an elite NBA player.
It’s amazing to see that Auburn has so many former players on NBA rosters, as they didn’t before Bruce Pearl arrived in the Plains.
