Meet the Charlottesville Gladiators, 1st Pro Team at Albemarle Co.


ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) – You don’t have to travel far to watch a professional basketball game anymore. The Charlottesville Gladiators are a new member of the American Basketball Association.

“The first professional team Charlottesville has ever had,” said head coach Sean Singletary.

He’s not Charlottesville’s only connection to this professional team.

“We’re a bunch of guys who played high school in local areas who want to continue their careers playing professional and trying to get community engagement, to be in touch with the fans and to contribute something. exciting to town, ”Singletary mentioned.

Thomas Brown is one of several Central Virginia natives on the team.

“We really want the support from the community,” Brown said. “We have a ton of guys from Charlottesville, a few guys from the surrounding counties, but it’s not just for us but it’s just to get the community and the kids excited to have something to hope for something to do. on the weekend. “

The next Gladiators game will be at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 5 at Monticello High School.
