Nathan Nelson appointed to NABC Community Support Team

COLOMBIA, South Carolina – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) today announced the NABC 2021 Community Support Team, which includes the recently graduated Gamecock forward. Nathan Nelson. The Community Support Team recognizes 10 male college basketball players for their outstanding community service efforts.

Nelson, who graduated from South Carolina with a political science degree in May, was involved in many community outreach initiatives during his time in the Garnet and Black. He joined his teammates for the 8K community outreach campaign during the summer months, attending events at Sowing Seeds, Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity and also visiting Dorn VA Medical Center in Colombia. At Sowing Seeds, Nelson participated in a gardening project and he and his teammates hosted a luau at Ronald McDonald House at Prisma Children’s Hospital during the campaign. He also spent time at The Salvation Army, Harvest Hope Food Bank, City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department, YMCA, and a vacation event at Shaw Air Force Base for the military and their families. families. Nelson was also named to the SEC 2020 Men’s Basketball Community Service Team.
