NBA G League and Marvel reveal superhero-themed collaboration

The National Basketball Association’s Developmental G League and Marvel Entertainment have unveiled a promotional collaboration for the upcoming 2022-23 season, in which 16 teams will each host a “Marvel Super Hero Day.”

The initiative will include Marvel-themed jerseys and limited-edition comic books for promotional giveaways, which will feature Black Panther and G League players as Agents of Wakanda.

Select games will also feature Marvel character appearances, limited-edition merchandise such as jerseys, socks, towels, and additional fan engagement activities.

Participating teams are: Austin Spurs, Birmingham Squadron, Cleveland Charge, Delaware Blue Coats, Fort Wayne Mad Ants, G League Ignite, Grand Rapids Gold, Iowa Wolves, Raptors 905, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Salt Lake City Stars, Santa Cruz Warriors , Stockton Kings, Westchester Knicks, Windy City Bulls and Wisconsin Herd.

The 2022-23 NBA G League season begins November 4.

In a similar move in May 2021, ESPN and Marvel teamed up for a superhero-themed alternate broadcast of the NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans.

The broadcast has integrated various Marvel elements and characters including Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Captain America, Black Widow, and Doctor Strange throughout the game, including 3D virtual characters, custom graphics, and animation packages .
