Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 27) – Two baseball clubs performed surprisingly on Day 1 of Game 3 of the inaugural Philippine Basketball Association 3×3 tournament on Saturday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Sista Super Sealers became the surprise leader of Pool B with a 2-0 record, defeating Stage 2 finalist Platinum Karaoke 22-19 in their opener after Leo de Vera won. with 11 points.
Sista went on to produce another surprise victory in his second game after beating San Miguel Beermen, 21-20.
The Beermens ended the day 0-2 after being beaten by sister team Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel, 20-21, thanks to a winning shot from Dennice Villamor.
Meanwhile, Terrafirma clinched a spot for the quarter-finals after going undefeated in their three games in Pool A.
Terrafirma first outlasted Stage 2 champions Meralco Bolts, 22-18. They scored a narrow victory over Pioneer Pro Tibay, 17-14, and a dominant victory over NorthPort Batang Pier, 21-11.
The team will face Zamboanga Valientes without a win on Sunday in their final group match.
The Purefoods TJ Titans currently lead Pool C with a 2-0 record after beating Cavitex Braves (21-14) and Limitless Appmasters (20-17).
The Titans will face stage 1 champions TNT Tropang Giga, who won against Cavitex but surprisingly lost to Limitless on Saturday.
The champion of the third stage will be determined on Sunday.
