Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster says he would love to fight Jake Paul, can’t due to contract
Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster has said he would like to fight Youtube star and fledgling professional boxer Jake Paul, after Paul called him ahead of his fight with former MMA star Tyron Woodley at the end of last month.
But Smith-Schuster said his contract with the Steelers would prevent him from fighting and that in any case he would need time to train as a boxer.
âDude, if I wasn’t in touch I sure wouldn’t have fought him,â Smith-Schuster said during an appearance on The Jim Rome Show. âI think that would be great. I think when it comes to fighting, I should practice. I am not a professional boxer. This is something I should be training for. But I think it would be a very good fight.
Paul, who is a Cleveland Browns fan, appeared to choose Smith-Schuster out of animosity due to his rooting interest, but Smith-Schuster said he respected the fighter-turned-star in the video.
“Jake Paul is a guy who is doing well for himself obviously”, Smith-Schuster “I have respect, because what he does is unheard of. That he is Youtuber and what he does now is insane. Good for him, but if ever I get the chance, outside of my football contract, that’s for sure. Yes sir. “
Paul is 4-0 as a professional, although his fights were against former MMA stars Woodley and Ben Askren, former professional basketball player Nate Robinson and fellow Youtube star Ali Loui Al-Fakhri.
