Waukee’s Pryce Sandfort commits to Iowa men’s basketball program
Hawkeye striker Payton Sandfort’s brother is a 6ft 7in winger and 4-star rookie
Waukee’s Pryce Sandfort, a 4-star recruit for the Class of 2023, gave a verbal commitment to the Iowa men’s basketball program.
Sandfort, a 6-foot-7 winger, joins brother Payton Sandfort, who played 34 games for Iowa last season as a rookie and averaged 5.0 points per game.
Pryce Sandfort averaged 26.6 points and 10.3 points at Waukee Northwest High last season as a junior. He hit 40.5% of his 144 3-point tries. He was a first-team Class 4A All-State selection, as was Hawkeye rookie Josh Dix.
“Fran has told me this before, he sees me coming into freshman year and doing 60 3s and having a big role right away,” Sandfort told Rivals.com. “Obviously it all depends on me and how hard I work.”
He joins power forward Owen Freeman of Bradley, Illinois, and guard Brock Harding of Moline, Illinois, in Iowa’s 2023 recruiting class. Freeman will be Harding’s teammate at Moline High this season.
Sandfort has also received scholarship offers from Drake, Nebraska, Clemson, Seton Hall, and Washington State.
